Kick Your Feet Up After Surgery
Today is Josiah's day to kick up his feet and relax. This morning he had surgery on his big toe. Since arriving back home he has had lots of company while he lays back and rests. Thankfully his toe should be feeling better after months of pain in it. Me on the other hand...my foot is still hurting, but thankfully I have a diagnosis. When the specialist asked how long my foot had been hurting...I had to say...well I don't remember, but many years. Seems I damaged the nerve in between two of my toes and it has been inflamed for years. The nerve is being pinched by the bones. Choices??
Well cortisone shots on a regular basis, or until there is so much damage to the tissue I can't have them anymore or the other option given was surgery to cut the nerve. Neither sounds real appealing to me. So we are going to try approach number 3. Of course this was not an option from the specialist, but it is my best option in my opinion. See the chiropractor and have an adjustment to free the pinched nerve from between the toes. From my research it looks like this may be a very viable option. Along with the chiropractic I will try massage therapy to relax the inflamed nerves. I have been in pain, especially when wearing tennis shoes or any closed toed shoes, including high heals, for many years. I thought it was all due to an injury about 7-8 years ago, but the doctor doesn't think so.
Those who know me know that I am much happier to use natural medicine. I have been to chiropractors for most of my life. The chiropractor we currently see has been adjusting our family for nine years. Maybe I will finally be able to exercise again without pain!
