Doctors Visits and Crazy Hair
Since the children came home on the 28th of September, we have been busy, busy, busy. BJ has started seeing a specialist for his eyes. He has his next appointment in November to meet with a pediatric glaucoma specialist and the low vision clinic to see what can be done to help him see better. Korpu came home with a fungus under her fingernail, ringworm on her head and a bacterial infection in her nose. If you remember she recently fought malaria in Liberia, so the doctors here wanted to make sure she was better from that as well. In the meantime Josiah had two appointments for his toe, one ending in a small surgery to repair an infection and a toe nail that had a mind of its own. Fast forward another week and Korpu sees the ear, nose and throat specialist, audiologist and an x-ray for her sinuses.

Yesterday we found that Korpu is not able to hear much at all. One ear is completely blocked and the other only allows for minimal hearing. This would be a good reason why she is not speaking well yet! So the ENT scheduled her for surgery in November to try to clear her ears. We will then retest for hearing. We are still waiting to hear about the x-rays of her adenoids which seem to be very enlarged. I made it home long enough to eat dinner with the family and discover that Gideon had a severe sore throat. Off to the minor emergency at 8 pm. We are waiting for his strep test to come back, but we are quite sure that is what he has. Two doses of antibiotic and he is already back to the land of the living!
So, as you can see I have been busy, sitting mostly. We have met some wonderful doctors that are helping us get everyone back on track. It has been many years since we have needed this many doctors appointments in a few weeks time. Of course we are using all our homeopathic, essential oils, herbs and more at home, but sometimes we need specialist to help us with big things like impending blindness, deafness and surgeries.
Here is a picture of the crazy hair girls....one black, one blond...sister that love each other dearly!
