What is life like for a high school aged young man that has been tossed around from foster home to foster home...18 foster homes to be exact! Brandon King grew up in difficult life of stealing, fights and eventually life in the Avenue D gang, dealing drugs and serving time in prison for three years. Now on parole Brandon is 18, finishing high school and trying to turn from his past life. While in prison Brandon entered into a personal relationship with his Savior, but will his past catch up with him?

Thinking Biblically
There is a popular saying in the Church today that goes something like this: "If the Lord is not the Lord of all, He is not Lord at all." Of course, the Lord is the Lord of all whether we acknowledge Him as Sovereign over all things or not. In Christendom today, what is meant by this popular phrase is that we desire to submit willingly to the Lord in every area of our lives. But do we? Just saying this doesn't make it so. We must look to the Word of God to provide us with the answers to all the issues of life and from a willing heart, obey the principles found therein.

 
Children are a Blessing is a testimony of how the Lord worked to open our hearts and minds to trust Him as Sovereign over all things- even the womb. The purpose of this film is to encourage families to trust in the truth of the Word of God for the blessing of children and to stop allowing the current humanistic and secular philosophies of the day (which have even infiltrated much of the church) to impact our thinking and ultimately our actions. The church at large today considers itself to be pro-life, and rightly so. Pro life is most certainly an anti-abortion stance, but doesn't the very name mean "for life," also implying "not preventing life?" Should we not also consider that the prevention of children with potentially abortifacient drugs such as the birth control pill or other methods of "planning" family size would be wrong as well?  

The opening and closing of the womb is clearly articulated in Scripture to be the Lord's doing. Shouldn't we as Christians simply and willingly trust Him in faith to open and close the womb as He sees fit? Does it please the Lord when His people prevent the blessing of children? We must think through this issue with Biblical principles, not human reasoning. 

This weekend my husband and I watched a new movie called Stuck. Stuck is a documentary focused on telling the story of the millions of orphans around the world that seem to be stuck in the system. Craig Juntunen, president and founder of Both Ends Burning is not only the producer, but an adoptive parent himself, who desires to see reform in our current international adoption system. The story of the couples in the movie brought tears to my eyes...they could have been my own story.

Tonight is the opening night of the new movie Monumental, a documentary produced by Kirk Cameron.

Here's my hunch: Could it be that we have simply forgotten what made us such a great nation in the first place? So many people are waiting around for our leaders to come up with a grand plan to save our nation. But is that really how America got started? What if things actually work the other way around? Monumental is my journey to find answers to these questions. I’m retracing the footsteps of our Founders from England to America in the hope of rediscovering our true ‘national treasure’ so that we can use it to restore our country.”

When asked why he decided to make the film, Cameron said, “This is one of the most important journeys of my life. America is worth fighting for, and so are our families. We can still be a "city upon a hill." But we need to work together. With God's help, we can turn this thing around. Someone once said, "Footprints in history are not made sitting down." I couldn’t agree more. So, I’m asking every American to stand with me in this monumental moment to rediscover America's true national treasure. Our children and our children's children will thank us for it.”

Stand Strong by Illumina8ed Productions

Matt and Tara Webster appear to have it all, a beautiful home in a nice neighborhood, a good paying job, a boat, jet skis, motorcycles and money. That is until their credit card debit and materialistic lifestyle catch up to them. After having all of her credit cards decline at dinner one night, Matt finally tells Tara that they are losing the house. But when Matt loses his job, the Webster family finally hits rock bottom. 

Matt's mother, brother Josh and his family are strong Christians that have been praying for Matt and Tara for some time. Josh and wife Tara offer to allow Matt's family to live with them while they get back on their feet. Through many struggles and much pride, Matt and Tara learn the importance of Biblical priorities.

Positives:

There were many positive elements in the movie. The family learned the importance of relationships over possessions. Josh learns to lead his family, Tara's heart is turned to training and teaching her children through homeschool and the children's hearts are turned to their parents. The Webster family learns how to begin a family business and live within their means.

Matt and Josh's mother is a Godly woman who is constantly praying for their families. The family is shown praying before meals and praying for each other.

Negatives:

In the beginning of the movie, the Webster children are very worldly. The children are disrespectful to the parents and the parents are shown, on more than one occasion, arguing about money. The parents eventually gain the hearts of the children and the children become respectful but in speech and in conduct.

The Redman family really enjoyed the movie Stand Strong. There were plenty of funny parts to keep the little ones laughing and even us older ones. The message of the movie came through loud and clear. We would encourage families to see this movie!
